Prevalence of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli and Rotavirus Antigen among Diarrheic Children Attending Selected Hospitals in Abeokuta, Nigeria: A Comparative Study

Background: Diarrheal infections are one of the leading causes sickness and death all over world. It is second-most common cause under-five mortality, accounting for half a million deaths annually. In Abeokuta, etiology diarrheagenic bacteria viruses has not been well studied.
 Objective: To determine prevalence Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli Rotavirus Antigen among Diarrheic Children attending Selected Hospitals in Nigeria: A Comparative study.
 Methods: total 315 stool samples were collected from children 0–5 years age across three selected hospitals. With wooden spatula, 5ml fecal sample was scooped decanted into clean, labeled screw-capped tubes. antigen screening performed according to manufacturers’ instructions, while EPEC using cultural, biochemical, stereotyping methods.
 Results: From performed, 30 (37.04%) positive, whereas 51 (62.96%) positive rotavirus. Dissemination based on ageshowed that between 7–12 months had most elevated predominance infection 17 (33.33%) lowest observed 0–2 4 (7.84%). Furthermore, highest diseases 12 (40%) 19–24 2 (6.67%).
 Conclusion: This study demonstrated higher as compared within location.
